Nick Brandt.
I came across these stunning black and white photographs while browsing NotCot.
I'll try to find out a bit more about the photographer, Nick Brandt, but in the mean time, go and check out his work. http://www.nickbrandt.com
Please excuse the mess.
Following an unexpected surge in the flow of creative juices, I've decided to start blogging again.
But no sooner had I made my first post than I noticed a bunch of error messages from my ExpressionEngine install. Then I decided to quickly check validation of my contact page to see why a <div> might not be displaying as intended, and I found a squillion validation errors as well. So, I clearly have quite a bit of work to do. It just goes to show how little attention I have been paying to this site. I think I will go back to basics. A fresh install of EE, strip and rebuild the site, maybe update the gallery to a nice Ajax example while I'm at it. I'm not going for a redesign at this stage (I actually still like the design, and hey, I'm not a designer anyway) maybe just a realign (link is to a 2005 A List Apart article by Cameron Moll. An oldie but a goody.)New trams for Melbourne.
I read about a competition on Design Yearbook, to design some new trams for Stockholm.
Melbourne trams are being upgraded, so why not go with a double-decker tram while you're at it. Whilst these are not in production, I think that, besides looking great, they would solve some of the peak-hour overcrowding on city trams. I'm not clear on how they might be powered but I don't see why they couldn't use existing infrastructure given there is already a heap of headroom above Melbourne trams. Maybe this could happen (in my dreams).

Expression Engine 1.6
What could bring me out of blogging hibernation?
The folks at Expression Engine are giving away copies of the exciting new expansion to EE, Multiple Site Manager. It will allow users to operate multiple sites from one installation of Expression Engine. Pretty cool. Anyway, the giveaway involves cobbling together some bastardization of a few rare pics of reclusive Expression Engine CEO, Rick Ellis. So, here is my effort. Click the image for a larger version. So, yes, I am cheap and easily bought. Please send me a free copy, Mr. Ellis, please. As an aside, this is possibly the start of me getting back into blogging, with an emphasis on photography and art in general, and maybe some documentation of the restoration of my daily driver, a 1967 VW Beetle. Wish me luck.I’ve given this some thought..
and I've decided that I won't be doing this blog thing any more for a while, at least not in its current form.
In reality, I haven't really been 'doing' it for over a year now. What started as a great way for me to stay in contact with family and friends whilst I was travelling has just turned into a bit of a yawn. Plus, I have much more important things to spend my valuable time on. Not to mention that, other than by vendors of pharmaceuticals of questionable origin, my blogging genius has largely gone unrecognised. Anyway, this will be my last post until I decide what I am going to do with this site. For the time being, I'll leave it as it is. Like I just walked out one day. A bit like the Sir John Soane's Museum in London, but without all the really cool stuff. However, unlike Sir John Soane, I may return. Sooner than you (or I) think.
